Troop 95 hosted the annual Pancake Breakfast in conjunction with the Medinah Park District Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 29, 2024.

Troop 95 camped at the Ed Bryant Scout Reservation, Mauston, WI, and enjoyed a day at the Kalahari Indoor Water Park, Wisconsin Dells, on February 23-25, 2024.

Troop 95 competed in the Chippewa Klondike Derby, Cantigny Park, IL, and spent many hours practicing knots and first aid, orienteering, threw tomahawks, lit camp fires, etc. to compete in the Derby on February 3, 2024. 

Troop 95 volunteered at the Roselle American Legion to assist with the annual American flag disposal on November 4, 2023. When a flag has served its useful purpose, “it should be destroyed, preferably by burning,” according to the American Flag Code.  Only the American Legion and BSA Scouts of American are officially permitted to properly dispose of Amercian flags. Community service is a significant part of being a Scout in Troop 95.

Troop 95 volunteered at the Medinah Park District Halloween Happenings on October 27, 2023 by providing a campfire and s'mores to the costumed attendees. The Scouts camped for the night at the park district and then volunteered at the Roselle American Legion Trunk or Treat with a mystery candy station and a bucket toss into a camping tent. Community service is a significant part of being a Scout in Troop 95.

Troop 95 hiked at Waterfall Glen, Darien, IL on August 7, 2023. The Scouts explored the many waterfalls on Sawmill Creek in the forest preserve.

Troop 95 camped at Sweet Minihaha Campground, Brodhead, WI, August 18-20, 2023, and swam and went river tubing in the Sugar River.

Troop 95 camped at Kettle Moraine at Glenbeulah, WI, July 29, 2023, swam in the Sheboygan Quarry Water Park, and on July 30 slept on the USS Cobia submarine. The Scouts also toured the Wisconsin Maritime Museum in Manitowoc.

Troop 95 camped at Camp Blackhawk "Go!" at Owasippe Scout Reservation in Twin Lake, Michigan, June 25-July 1, 2023.  The Scouts earned over 25 merit badges, including difficult-to-earn badges and Eagle-required badges. Scouts also learned to water ski, horseback ride, forge metal tools, drive motor boats, etc.  The camp is located near Twin Lake, Michigan.

Troop 95 embarked on a High Adventure trip to the Boundary Waters Canoe Country from June 8 - 15, 2023. The Troop canoed, camped, fished, and portaged among the many lakes in northern Minnesota. While exploring the wilderness the Troop experienced the beauty and solitude of nature in early summer on the shores of the lakes, and took on the challenges of camping far from civilization.

Troop 95 camped at Indiana Dunes, hiking the dunes and exploring the lake shore on May 19-21, 2023.

Troop 95 camped at Apple River Fort, Jo Daviess County, IL, and participated in Scouting activities with a Civil War theme on April 28-30, 2023. President Ulysses S. Grant, who also served as the Commanding General of the Union Army, lived in Galena off and on throughout his life.

Troop 95 camped at Starved Rock, LaSalle County, IL, hiked over 5 miles and enjoyed the waterfalls and scenic views on March 24-26, 2023.

Troop 95 camped at Eagle Cave, Blue River, WI, and spent many hours exploring the cave system and hiking through the local hills on February 17-19, 2023.

Troop 95 competed and won 3rd place in the Chippewa Klondike Derby, Cantigny Park, IL, and spent many hours practicing knots and first aid, orienteering, threw tomahawks, lit camp fires, etc. to compete in the Derby on February 4, 2023. 

Troop 95 Life Scout, Connell T, was chosen as first trumpet in the ILMEA State Concert Band which performed on January 28, 2023.

Troop 95 Second Class Scout, Camron P was awarded Science Olympiad First place Road Scholar.

Troop 95 camped at Moraine View State Park near Bloomington, Illinois, November 18-20, 2022 in 15°F weather (and earned their cold weather camping patch).  The Scouts took a climbing class on rappelling, bouldering, top-roping, auto-belays, and lead-climbing at Upper Limits and earned the climbing merit badge.  Scouts then had free time to climb inside the silos and practice their new skills.

Troop 95 Life Scout, Connell T, was chosen as first chair trumpet in the ILMEA District 9 Concert Band which performed on November 12, 2022.

Troop 95 worked on an Eagle Project to collect plastic bags, cut the bags into strips, tie the strips in to yarn, and crochet that yarn in to thick, insulating sleeping mats. The work was completed during the fall of 2022.  The Scouts combined their time and labor to contributed many hours to complete the project under the direction of Ryan C.

Halloween volunteer work was also part of the Troop activities at the Roselle Trunk of Treat and the Medinah Halloween Happenings.

Troop 95 worked on an Eagle Project to build and install three compost bins at Springhill Elementary School, Roselle, IL, during the summer of 2022.  The Scouts combined their time and labor to contributed many hours to complete the project under the direction of Jared S.

Troop 95 camped at Camp Sol R. Crown Scout Camp in Kenosha County, Wisconsin, October 21 - 23, 2022.  The Scouts ran through the world's largest corn maze, cheered on pig races, rode zip lines, dove in corn pits, leapt on giant jumping pillows, rode in ORBiting balls, and enjoyed time at Richardson's Adventure Farm.

Troop 95 camped at Gardner Dam Scout Camp near Langlade County, Wisconsin, August 12 - 14, 2022.  The Scouts took a five hour trip down the Wolf River, class 3-4 rapids, in inflatable rafts.

Troop 95 camped at Camp Blackhawk "Go!" at Owasippe Scout Reservation in Twin Lake, Michigan, June 26-July 2, 2022.  The Scouts earned over 25 merit badges, including difficult-to-earn badges and Eagle-required badges. Scouts also learned to water ski, horseback ride, forge metal tools, drive motor boats, etc.  The camp is located near Twin Lake, Michigan.

Troop 95 camped at Camp Big Timber near Elgin, Illinois, May 20-22, 2022.  The Scouts participated in a series of activity stations, including soldering, pioneering, blacksmithing, shooting sports, and competed in the Golden Skillet Competition.

Troop 95 camped at Ed Bryant Scout Reservation near Mauston, WI, March 25 - 27, 2022.  The Scouts cabin camped and went geocaching at Devil's Lake State Park in Baraboo, Wisconsin.

Troop 95 camped at Gardner Dam Scout Camp near Langlade County, Wisconsin, August 13 - 15, 2021.  The Scouts took two trips down the Wolf River, class 2 rapids, in rafts and inflatable kayaks.  Before heading home, the Scouts hiked Gardner Dam Scout Camp.

Scouts also learned to climb and rappel, water ski, horseback ride, etc.  The camp is located near Twin Lake, Michigan.

Troop 95 competed in the Chippewa Klondike Derby, Cantigny Park, IL, and spent many hours assembling and lashing together a Klondike sledge, practiced knots, 2 man-sawing, threw tomahawks, lit camp fires, etc. to compete in the Derby on February 6, 2021. 

Troop 95 worked on an Eagle Project to remove, rebuild, and install four benches at Trinity Lutheran Church, Roselle, IL, from December 2020 through January 2021.  The Scouts combined their time and labor to contributed hundreds of hours to complete the project under the direction of Quinn S.

Troop 95 worked on the Space Exploration Merit Badge.  After a few Troop meetings spent assembling and painting the model rockets, they launched rockets at Medinah Park District under the supervision of merit badge counselor, Kevin Wills on Sunday, October 11, 2020.

Troop 95 biked the Fox River Trail on September 28, 2020.

Troop 95 camped at Apple River Valley, and spent many hours hiking through the local hills and riding on the Alpine Slides and zip line at Chestnut Mountain Resort, Galena, IL, on August 7-9, 2020.

I earned my Eagle Scout rank in 1985 with Troop 152, York-Adams Area Council, Pennsylvania. I reconnected with Scouts when my son asked to join Cub Scouts in elementary school. I became an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 95, Medinah, IL, in 2016, and Scoutmaster in 2019.  As for music, Troop 95 has a tradition of having a Scout bugler for camp wake-up, summer camp flag raising and retirement, and honor ceremonies. The Troop owns two bugles, and Travis is fortunate that his son, Connell Travis, Star Scout, is able to fill the role of bugler for the Troop at the moment.

Troop 95 held a Virtual Campout on June 6-7, 2020.  The Scouts set up tents in their yards, played Zoom games for fun and skill, cooked dinner, and told ghost stories.  After breakfast the next morning, we hiked at the Wood Dale Grove forest preserve.

Quinn's Eagle project consists of placing numerous bird houses in Roselle Parks.  At Lake Park High School, he built a Canada goose nesting platform and convinced the school's maintenance to float it in their lake.  Read more!

Troop 95 cabin camped at Camp Chief Little Turtle, and enjoyed the Toboggan Run at Pokagon State Park, and long with some excellent hill sledding.
